Product innovations like VersaLock™ have made hardwood floor installation a do-it-yourself dream.
With hardwood flooring, you have several different installation options depending on the hardwood you buy: Glueless VersaLock, Nail Down, or Glue Down.
Glueless VersaLock - Shaw’s revolutionary Versalock™ flooring system allows your new hardwood flooring to be installed quickly and without glue. It’s the most do-it-yourself friendly hardwood installation you could find. There's no messy clean up, and you can walk on it right away. VersaLock is made possible by a patented locking technology that reliably secures your flooring panels on all four sides without adhesive. As an added bonus, a VersaLock floor can be easily taken apart and reassembled.
Nail Down - This installation technique is required for SOLID hardwood construction. You or a professional installer will either nail or power staple your new hardwood floor to a suitable subfloor.
Glue Down - This installation technique is required for ENGINEERED hardwoods that do not have the locking technology of VersaLock. You or a professional installer will use adhesive to adhere your new hardwood to a suitable subfloor.
If you decide to install your Shaw hardwood flooring yourself, the downloadable instruction manuals found on this site will provide the information you'll need. The manuals will provide...
• a list of required tools and accessories
• rules for preparing your subfloor
• guidelines for your work area
• step-by-step instructions
But remember, these are general guidelines. Once you have purchased a specific product, you will need to make sure there are not product-specific guidelines you need to follow.
